PROJECT CARGO FOR TRADITIONAL ENERGY
Transformer and Generator Transport for Traditional Energy
We coordinate the transport of grid transformers, generators and power plant equipment for energy operators, with full weight distribution calculations and all the required permits.
How we operate in Traditional Energy
The transport partner for energy operators
Grid transformers and industrial generators are among the heaviest indivisible pieces moved by road. A 100-tonne transformer can exceed the capacity of many bridges on the standard route, so every delivery calls for careful planning, not just a truck booking.
As a freight forwarder, we coordinate, through our network of specialized partners, the weight distribution calculations, the verification of road structures and the exceptional heavy transport permit required for a safe delivery, from one end of the route to the other.

How we work
Why choose us for Traditional Energy
Weight distribution calculations
For heavy transformers and generators, we check the axle loads and the strength of every structure on the route before confirming the itinerary.
Exceptional heavy transport permit
We fully manage the required permit and the approved route for pieces that exceed standard size and tonnage thresholds.
Multi-axle access through the partner network
We configure trailers with 10 to 18 axle lines for transformers and generators of exceptional tonnage, working with specialized partners.

What we transport
What we transport for Traditional Energy
Heavy pieces, often over 40 tonnes, that require individual transport calculations and dedicated equipment.
Grid transformers
Transport on multi-axle configurations, with axle-load calculations and a pre-approved route.
Industrial generators
Coordination for power plants and large generator sets.
Industrial turbines
Transport arrangements for high-tonnage turbine components.
Power plant equipment
Transport of the various equipment needed for plant upgrades and refurbishments.

The specific challenge
Why every bridge on the route matters
A transformer weighing more than 100 tonnes cannot simply cross any bridge. Every structure on the route must be checked for load capacity before the itinerary is confirmed, otherwise the risk is either damage to the infrastructure or a serious incident.
Through our network partners, we coordinate this technical verification together with the local road authorities and structural engineers, so the approved route is safe along its entire length. Tonnage varies significantly: from 40 to 150 tonnes for transformer substations and from 80 to 300 tonnes for thermal or hydro power plant equipment.

Frequently asked questions
Traditional Energy: frequently asked questions
A grid transformer weighing over 100 tonnes travels on multi-axle configurations or, where the route requires it, on self-propelled trailers, with a weight distribution calculation for every axle. As a freight forwarder, we coordinate through specialized partners the equipment suited to the tonnage, the pre-approved route and the exceptional heavy transport permit, so the delivery is safe from end to end.
Before confirming the route, we check the load capacity of every bridge, viaduct and structure along the way against the piece's actual weight, together with the road authorities and structural engineers. This prevents both infrastructure damage and the risk of an incident, and in cases where no standard route can bear the load, we identify alternatives or temporary reinforcement solutions.
For equipment of exceptional tonnage we configure modular trailers with 10 to 18 axle lines, and for demanding maneuvers or short-distance positioning we use self-propelled SPMT platforms. The choice depends on the piece's weight, the route restrictions and the space available at destination, and we source the equipment through our network of specialized partners.
We handle it all: the route survey and the exceptional heavy transport permit for every country crossed, including the coordination of police escorts wherever they are mandatory. Your dedicated project manager runs the entire technical and administrative file, so you receive an approved route and a clear delivery timeline.
Planning a generator or turbine transport usually takes between 2 and 4 weeks, depending on the structural verifications and the permits required along the route. The cost is calculated individually, based on weight, dimensions and distance, and we prepare the project quote, with the weight calculation and CMR insurance of up to EUR 2.5 million included, within 24 hours of receiving the details.
Yes, we coordinate door-to-door delivery, from the factory of origin to the final location inside the plant, including the positioning maneuver onto the foundation where required. Through our specialized partners we also arrange the lifting equipment, cranes or SPMT platforms, for the safe unloading and placement of transformers, generators and turbines.
